Overview

This CICS/TS course covers the internals of CICS up to and including CICS/TS 6.1. Upon completion, attendees will be able to describe the internal structure of CICS/TS. All the major Domains will be covered, such as the Kernel Domain, the Dispatcher Domain, Transaction Manager Domain and the Storage Manager Domain. In addition, the attendee will understand how to analyze the File Control and Enqueue structures. Storage Management is covered and the attendee will be able to describe what the causes are of storage violations and how to locate and resolve them. CICS Tracing is covered, as well as a session on using the Interactive Problem Control System - IPCS to analyze the CICS System dumps. A number of workshops are included, and the attendee will analyze a number of system dumps. including a Storage Violation dump and an Enqueue dump. The attendees will use IPCS to analyze the dumps taken and be given a roadmap to resolve these issues. Attendees will have a CICS/TS 6.1 system for the workshop.

Prerequisites

Attendees should have had 2-3 years as a CICS Systems Programmer, and ideally should have completed CICS/TS for System Programmers.
