Overview

This course is for individuals who administer and maintain an IBM Content Manager OnDemand MP or z/OS V10.5.x system.

Students will complete hands on exercises using the command utilities required for system maintenance and document processing, including arsxml, arsdoc and arsadmin.

The course covers system and user exit logging and the document audit facility.

This course also instructs students on how to create OnDemand objects such as applications, application groups, folders, and cabinets, as well as how to index, load, retrieve and view various types of line data report files, PDF and AFP documents, XML, and image files.

Course Details

Course Outline

Unit 1. CMOD Technical Overview: This lesson provides a high-level overview of the platform including the clients and browser solution (ICN). Required modules for all students.

Unit 2. Document Indexing: Introduces the student to the indexing structure of CMOD and the terminology of separating documents within a print stream, creating key search criteria, and loading.

Unit 3. Build Reporting Objects: Students learn what an application group, application, folder and cabinet objects are, and create them using the Create New method. Students are also introduced to the security concepts for CMOD.

Unit 4. Loading Report Types: The student continues learning the CMOD objects with loading different DataStream types such as PDF, EBCDIC, ASCII and Images learning the PDF indexer, S/390, generic and ACIF indexers. The students learn with the wizard and other time saving techniques.

Unit 5. Storage Management- The students begin focusing on the configuration and understanding of the CMOD storage methods such as Cache, external storage managers and direct storage connections.

Unit 6. Document Storage- This lesson continues building on the internal storage and database structure of the platform. The students learn where the documents are stored and how the documents are retrieved irrelevant to the methodology used for loading and retrieval.

Unit 7. System Management - This lesson continues building on the administration and configuration options and setting of the CMOD platform. Tasks such as backup, understanding the ARSMAINT tasks, upgrades, user administration and DR strategies.
