Course Description

Plan and lead generative AI initiatives that differ fundamentally from traditional software projects. GenAI project foundations cover fuzzy objectives, exploratory scoping, data as both dependency and deliverable, the AI system development lifecycle, common AI actors, and ROI quantification. Project planning, scoping, and team leadership cover data cards, iterative development planning, communication strategies, model selection as a planning concern, AI lifecycle actors, project-management challenges, R&D cadence, cost-effectiveness ratios, and Communities of Innovation. Communicating AI work covers translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences, reporting performance metrics with uncertainty and risk, visualizing progress, managing R&D expectations, preparing project reports, and using AI tools to accelerate communication. Risk management and the legal and organizational implications cover the NIST RMF foundations and AI-specific extensions, data-privacy regulations, liability, responsible-AI policies, and case studies. Hands-on labs produce a GenAI project plan, a stakeholder communication plan, a Responsible-AI maturity assessment, and a project-management case-study analysis. The course is designed for project and program managers, senior managers, and product leads owning GenAI initiatives.
